Default Article in the Columbus Dispatch today

http://www.dispatch.com/content/stor...s-closing.html

Sorry I probably did not copy and paste this right. Longaberger is closing all of the outlet stores. I think we all knew that but the article was interesting.

Thanks for posting, I didn't know the stores were closing. I found these last 2 paragraphs interesting:

"In order to turn around Longaberger, CVSL has had to “control every payment that’s made,” Rochon said. “You have to make sure you are in absolute control of every penny. The operators are not real keen on this process.”

Those changes were punctuated last week when Tami Longaberger resigned as CEO of the company her father founded, marking an end to the family’s leadership of the firm."

Wonder who the operators are that Rochon references?

Well and they say it was her decision to resign, but I have to wonder. I do agree with the concept that the business was competing with the consultants.

Well I am impressed with his words, he is right, those baskets should have never been made public. Any discounted items should have been consultants only but the overstock had to be dealt with. Tough love I guess.

Since The Homestead is listed as an outlet store what does this mean for it. Anyone know? Will that change or close? Last time I was there it was mainly retired items.

I think I read that the Homestead will stay the same.

The sad thing...last time was at the Homestead there was nothing in there other than the overhead inventory. Has it changed? Are the other places open at the homestead still?

Very sad indeed. I used to organize several bus trips a year to visit Dresden and the Homestead. In it's day, the town and the Homestead were packed with visitors. People waited in long lines to have their baskets signed by Longaberger family members.

I have quite a few baskets signed by family members including Tami and Rachel. Will baskets with their signatures be worth more or less (if less is possible)?

They will only be worth what someone is willing to pay for them. These days it's not much.

To get an idea go to Longaberger on ebay and search signed. This will bring up baskets signed by family members. You will get ones that sellers say signed that are weavers but you can skip over those.
